As today the opportunities of  integrating into scientific and academic medical community are expanding (through involvement in international research projects, inter-university exchange programmes, conferences and symposiums) specific skills and qualifications, which enable medical under- and postgraduates to use a second language as a tool for carrying out research and academic activities,  are gaining top priority.

The purpose of this programme is 
• to familiarize students with the international IMRAD format of writing research papers, the guidelines for developing summaries and abstracts in English, to acquire and master speech formulas and patterns specific to them;
• to provide information on and practice the rules, standards, and  clichés for making an oral presentation and a poster presentation at an international conference; 
• to introduce the main requirements for the development and oral examination of various research projects (Research Proposal, Thesis Development and Viva Voce/Oral Examination).

On completing this course you will
• become aware of the main rules and discourse formulas used in scientific and academic medical communication;
• gain experience and proficiency in using them in spoken and written research and academic  communication activities;
• develop skills in writing an English-language research paper, summary, abstract, and expertise in providing an oral or poster presentation at a conference;
• adjust to the conventions shared by the global scientific medical community.

The cost of training of this program is 8,000 rubles.
Note: Accommodation, travel expenses, meals and medical insurance are not included in the tuition fee. 

For those who have time to submit an early application for training, we can optionally provide accommodation in a hostel of the PMFI for the period of training under the Summer School programmes. 

The cost of living in the PMFI hostel for the period of study at the Summer School is 500 rubles per day.

Please note that the formation of the group will be carried out with the recruitment of at least 6 people.

27 июля    Аннотация на английском языке (Writing an Abstract (Summary)). Основные речевые формулы и фразы, используемые при написании аннотации. Написание рецензий и комментариев на английском языке (Review writing & commentary writing). (6 часов) 

28 июля    Основные приемы, применяемые при переводе медицинских научных статей. Перевод сложных терминов, сокращений и аббревиатур. (6 часов) 

29 июля    Правила составления и предъявления устной презентации и постерного  доклада на международной конференции на английском языке (A Poster Presentation). Используемые в презентациях и постреных докладах речевые клише. Правила составления и предъявления презентации PowerPoint на международной конференции на английском языке (A PowerPoint Presentation). Используемые в презентациях PowerPoint речевые клише. (6 часов) 

30 июля    Ознакомление с требованиями к разработке и защите исследовательских проектов (Research Proposal, Thesis Development and Oral Examination). (6 часов) 

31 июля    Оформление заявки на грант на английском языке (Project Grant Applications). Правила оформления резюме на английском языке (структурно-композиционные особенности, речевые формулы, используемые при написании резюме) (Writing an effective academic CV)
